Believe

This year, 2017, learn to exercise your faith. I share all the time how my circumstances has allowed me to grow in wisdom and to exercise my unwavering faith. Prayer is the key to any given situation and faith is believing the impossible. I choose to stand on God’s report. Marinade on all of the things He’s done for you. Do any of us deserve His mercy and grace? Absolutely not! I don’t care what the circumstances are God is able to turn it around. He will make your enemies see the good in you and they can’t phantom what happened. He will show a haughty- spirited person how to be kind and loving towards you. You keep walking in faith.
Pray for those who have wronged you and don’t seek revenge. Love them in spite of their unpleasant ways. Treat them with kindness; only a fool will reject love. God hears your prayers and He will do several things: change you, change your view of them, change them, or remove them out of your life. Whatever the outcome may be, God will do what’s best for you.

“A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” You don’t change your beliefs on a whim. Study God’s Word and be sure of His promises and precepts. Don’t waiver in your faith. Everything that is in print/spoken is not true. Use wise judgment. In addition, base your decisions on your experiences with God and how the Word of God has changed your life for better.
I’ve seen myself grow over the past few years. Things that I said I wouldn’t tolerate, I do because God is working on and through me to reach others. Our lives are testimonies for people to see that you can change if you have a willingness to do so.
Be encouraged. Keep the faith. Forgive the unforgivable. Love unconditionally. Seek God in everything.

He’s Just Not That Into to You: What Happened to the Marriage Chord?

angry couple

Marriages fail because of pure selfishness and stubbornness. If a person is not willing to forgive you pray for them with the love of God and a pure heart. It’s easy to see your mate’s faults but it’s hard as hell to accept that you have deficiencies, too.
The courts are flooded with the business of executing divorces. The day you vowed to accept, love, respect, cherish, provide and forsake others was not a game. You made a covenant with God and your spouse. The question is, did you really want to follow God’s instruction concerning marriage? Marriage is not about going through the motions; it needs to be taken seriously.
Love is free and accepting but devotion is loyalty and commitment. Marriage takes two committed people to make a decision to work things out no matter what! Don’t allow your hatred to cause you to destroy your covenant . Take inventory of your life and your own truths.
So many people destroy the gift that God has given them. When your spouse is sick and tired of the petty nonsense, lack of caring and commitment, they have reached a breaking point. There is absolutely no turning back. When it’s over; it is over. It’s not always about being right, holding grudges, or having a “I don’t give a damn” spirit. What you don’t cherish someone is waiting in the wings to scoop up what you have discarded: your spouse. I promise you once you come to your senses, you will realize the pain and lack of love you inflicted on your gift from God. God WILL bring it to your remembrance.
What really matters to you?
My prayer today is that couples who have reached the brink of falling out of love will take heed and recognize that your marriage is worth saving.

You Are Not Alone!

20140211-190804.jpg

Even if you feel alone, know that you are not. God is there and all you have to do is ask Him to comfort you and fill the void in your life. I believe what God says. Yes, I get weary and the tears fall down my face. That is my way of releasing those heavy weights. Then, I remember that my family loves me unconditionally and they are a phone call away!
He knows what we need and He will get rid of people and things that are not good for us. Keep loving!!! Keep giving!!! Keep serving God!!! It will pay off!!!

Wisdom is the Bridge Between the Head and the Heart

As you get older, you see the world differently. You’ve gained wisdom from your experiences. The one thing that never changes is the core/ essence of who you are: your values, integrity and loving someone. I was insecure in my 20’s and 30’s yet I always wanted to be loved unconditionally. There weren’t any gray areas in my life; it was black and white. Now, I understand what love is and how to nurture and build a relationship. It takes those gray areas-forgiving and rebuilding instead of saying ” I am not going to put up with this!” It takes being vulnerable to another human being and communicating your true feelings without fear and reservation. It’s taking risks, commitment and UNCONDITIONAL love. That is the core of who I am; however, I had to love myself first. I tried to convince others how great a person I was/am but I had to believe in my soul that I was worthy. People come and go in your life but a piece of you goes with them through lessons learned.

Phenomenal Woman: Dr. Maya Angelou

Dr. Maya Angelou

I admired and respected Dr. Maya Angelou, a woman that overcame insurmountable odds: raped as a child and silenced out of fear, a teenage  single mother and a waitress, being a black woman and  discriminated. Nevertheless, she loved the arts and pursued her career in film, dancing, singing,  directing, writing,  and teaching. She was also an activist; Dr. King and Maya were friends and she always stood for justice and equality.

One of her most famous books, written in 1970,  I Know Why the Caged Birds Sings. opened up dialogue and awareness for women who were emotionally and sexually abused. She was (and still is) their voice.

Excerpt from her biography:http://mayaangelou.com/bio/

“Dr. Angelou has served on two presidential committees, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Arts in 2000, the Lincoln Medal in 2008, and has received 3 Grammy Awards. President Clinton requested that she compose a poem to read at his inauguration in 1993. Dr. Angelou’s reading of her poem “On the Pulse of the Morning” was broadcast live around the world. Dr. Angelou has received over 50 honorary degrees and is Reynolds Professor of American Studies at Wake Forest University.”

Maya, a woman of color, raised the bar and demonstrated through her life’s work and experiences that every “sister-friend” can make it!!! Thank you for sharing your life with the world.

Dr. Angelou was on my bucket list. Now, I’ll have to meet you on the other side.

R.I.P. Phenomenal Woman!!!

I Feel Like Going On…

diary_journal_book_216173

It’s strange how life takes you in many directions. I had to make a major decision in August 2013. I struggled with my choices. Am I being obedient to God? Am I in a panic and making choices based on  fear and raw emotions? I allowed my first love to fall by the wayside and so I returned to teaching.

You see, I wanted to tell my life’s story to women who are STILL  hurting,  broken, rejected and  have lost hope in ever being happy in life. I know I didn’t go through all of that heartache and hardship to keep my darkest hours to myself. I have a story to tell. I meet and talk to women who have put others first and have lost their identity. I see my old self and I want them to know that the pain is temporary. Yes, it feels as if the ache in your heart is permanently embedded but it is not. I spent many years angry, having pity parties, and distrusting any man that entered into my life. I had to protect my broken soul. Then, I literally woke up in the middle of the night and I said, ” I am no longer going to live in the past.” I started praying on a regular basis, working out, getting closer to my children and keeping a journal. I got my degrees and went from welfare to being gainfully employed. It was a long road but I regained my confidence  and  a great sense of accomplishment.

Today, I feel like going on. I have written two books and I am ready to share them with the world: MY STORY! I want women to know through my personal affirmations that life goes on, you must forgive and allow yourself to love again. My books will make you laugh, cry, think and decide that change must come in order to move on.

Today, I believe that if I can make a difference in ONE woman’s life then my journey was not in vain.
