What A Man? What A Mighty Good Man!!!!

Laughing black coupleIf a man loves you he is faithful! He cares about your wants and needs. He’s true to his word. He is a protector, provider, prayer partner, peacemaker and patient. A good man accepts you and your children and will love them as his own. He takes his family to church and he stands on his principles. He dries your tears when you are crying, holds your hand and assures you that he’s got your back! Do you know that man? If not, these are the characteristics you should look for in a good man.

Lessons in Life: Forgiveness

Asking For Forgiveness

I am a firm believer in forgiveness. During your lifetime, you will experience hurt, disappointment and heartache. The key to dealing with these emotions is putting the negative events in your life in perspective. Your experiences are teachable moments. You learn who you are, what you want in life and you gain wisdom. Everything that you’ve had to face did not happen by chance. Either it was a lesson for you or the other person. God uses us as His vessels. So, forgive the person that hurt you. Come to grips with your past and allow yourself to move on. Say to yourself, “today I choose to forgive. The person that hurt me no longer has power over me. I am set free because I choose to forgive.” Forgiveness=Freedom

Juneteenth-What Strides Have You Made As People of Color?

Juneteenth

As we celebrate Juneteenth today (148 years ago), what strides have you made to improve yourself, community, family and build a lasting heritage to leave to your children? We are people of color with a rich history. Are we living up to the standards that our martyrs have set, preached and lost their lives to allow us to have inalienable rights like everyone else. This question is for me, too! We need to be more community oriented, stress to our children the importance of education and respect, take our streets back, stop killing one another, demand drugs be removed out of our neighborhoods and away from our sons and daughters. We have a responsibility and we all know there is strength in numbers. Mentor a child. Help your sister and brother who are in need. It is our duty as a people to do so!!!

GET YOUR GROOVE BACK LADIES

black white friendshipGet Your Groove Back- Ladies, we are the most beautiful creatures on the face of this earth. We were conceived from Adam’s rib because God did not want Adam (man) to be alone. So, do you realize how much power we have been given to be women, mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, mothers, entrepreneurs , businesswomen, etc. Let our lights shine as the beauty of the rising sun. We are held in high esteem but we must take our roles seriously. It is an honor to be created for the purpose of being a mate to a wonderful man, provider, friend, lover, confidant and husband. Rise to the occasion. Be proud of being a WOMAN!!!

Peace Be Still

Good morning family and friends,
Start the week expecting prayers to be answered. Never give up on God because He will never give up on you! Meditate/pray every morning and always give thanks in the midst of your storm. He knows what you are going through and all He requires from you is trust. The storm will rage and when He knows you are ready to receive the blessing, He will whisper “Peace be still.” Have a blessed week!

I Don’t Need Your Approval

No one can make you feel important but you. Stop seeking approval from others; know who you are and do not allow anyone to shake your confidence. Look in the mirror everyday and tell yourself that you are worthy, beautiful, important, loved and a reflection of God. The more you say it then at some point you will believe it! Don’t forget to take care of your mind, body and soul!!!

God knows your situation and He wants you to trust Him. He will walk through the fire with you. Man CANNOT do what God can. No matter what it looks like keep your focus and humble yourself to His will. I am not telling you what I heard;I am speaking from experience. I have been critically ill (near death),cheated on, felt unloved, lost a job and had bill collectors calling non-stop. BUT, God heard the prayers from others and me!!! He STILL answers prayers. So, pull yourself together, drop that steel rod down your back and STAND on His Word!!!

His Merices Are New EVERY Morning

RSWY CEO Gwen OwensFor some time I’ve had health challenges and they began to weigh heavily on my heart and my spirit was broken. However, God brought to the forefront of my mind the miracles He has performed in my life.

After educating children and adults for 14 years, I was told at the end of the 2011-2012 school year “you’re not a good fit.” I knew that statement had nothing to do with my job performance but it have EVERYTHING to do with being on sick leave for 4 months. I struggled with that but I remembered that if God touched my body and made me whole after being placed in a coma, on a respirator, having physical therapy to learn how to walk again then there is NOTHING too hard for Him. Every heartache, disappointment, rejection and illness gave me purpose-to tell the world of His goodness and mercy.

I am no different from you; I have my days. However, one thing I am certain of is God’s love for me and He promised that He would NEVER leave nor forsake me. Sometimes I shed tears and even in my weakness I question the direction he is taking me. But, at the end of the day, I understand my purpose.

Don’t give up on God because He knows and cares about your situation. It’s only temporary. As long as God exist there is hope.

Just in Case…

Until God Opens the next door, you will praise Him in the hallway!!!

Until God Opens the next door, you will praise Him in the hallway!!!

When your circumstances look bleak, the situtation has gone on for a long period of time and everything points to hopelessness, always trust and believe that God STILL performs miracles.
He is working on your behalf everyday. He will strenghten you at your lowest point:

*bills are past due- he will send you a blessing or cancel the debt

*home is in forclosure-the Son of Man had nowhere to lay his head but He makes provisions for His children

*sickness and disease-he can touch you and make you whole

*wayward children-pray without ceasing and don’t give up; God
can make that child humble as a lamb

*marriage in crisis-he can restore it

*death of a loved one-he will give you peace

…and just in case God does not answer the way you want Him to know that he has something bigger, better and brighter for your future! Believe!!!

Gwen 2 years old (3)Today is a very special day for me. I am 50 years old! I want to thank God for being a healer, restorer of life, a friend in my darkest hours and my strong tower. Because of you, I am. Thank you for giving me the gift of life and allowing me to use my experiences to help others. Thanks to my family, friends, and FB family for the love you have shown me today; I feel very special because of you!

My testimony:

I want to help somebody to see the light today,

I want to lend a helping hand to show someone the way,

I want my life to be an example as I go

Cause I’ll never pass this way again…
